Registration Mandatory for Relative and Step-Parent Adoptions: Shimla DC

Shimla Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap said that registration through the Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA) is now mandatory for all in-country relative and step-parent adoptions. Applicants can apply online through the CARA portal without any registration fee. After completing the legal formalities, the District Magistrate issues the adoption certificate. The administration has urged eligible families to adopt children living in child care institutions and follow the legal process to ensure the child’s rights and secure future. Since December 2022, 25 Children of the State have been placed with adoptive families in Himachal Pradesh.
