Harshvardhan Chauhan of Misleading House and Public on Central Funds: Randhir Sharma

1 min read

Shimla, September 24 – BJP MLA and state media in-charge Randhir Sharma launched a sharp attack on Industries and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Harshvardhan Chauhan, alleging that he is misleading the Assembly and public by presenting contradictory figures on central disaster relief funds provided to Himachal Pradesh.

Sharma said that while Chauhan claimed in a press conference that the Centre gave only ₹4,253 crore, government records presented in the Assembly show that between 2022–2025 the state received ₹3,250 crore under disaster relief, along with a special package of ₹2,006 crore for 2023, of which ₹451 crore has already been released. He added that with additional NDRF and NDMA advances, plus a separate ₹1,500 crore package announced by PM Narendra Modi, the total assistance crosses ₹7,000 crore in just three years.

He further cited replies given in the Assembly in 2024 and 2025, where figures showed substantial support from the Centre, including ₹23,566 crore in just 20 months. Sharma questioned whether Chauhan lied in the House or during the press conference, demanding that the minister correct his statements, apologize, and take action against officials who provided misleading data.
