Governance Under Scrutiny as Project Issues Trigger Political Row

Mandi, April 30: Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur launched a sharp attack on the state government, alleging that it is “running in the air” with no real development on the ground. He criticised the leadership of Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, stating that the government is limited to speeches and announcements rather than actual implementation.
Referring to the ₹225 crore milk processing plant project at Dhagwar in Kangra, Thakur termed the reported issues and delays as a clear sign of administrative failure and lack of coordination within the government. He questioned the monitoring of the project and accused the government of using such incidents for political optics rather than addressing systemic shortcomings.
Thakur also raised concerns over alleged changes in project design and delays, warning that such lapses could increase costs and burden the state exchequer.
Separately, he commented on the Palampur agricultural university land issue, stating that the Supreme Court’s refusal to intervene had exposed flaws in the government’s decision-making. He urged the government to respect public sentiment, legal frameworks, and prioritize the state’s interests in its policies.
