A patient suffering from severe kidney stones was denied surgery at the Urology Department of Atal Super Specialty Institute, Chamiana, due to a shortage of doctors. Arun Kumar Sharma, deputy head of Chalahal Panchayat, claimed he had been undergoing treatment for two months, including multiple ultrasounds and a CT scan. When he sought surgery due to unbearable pain, the attending doctor reportedly advised him to seek treatment at another accredited hospital, citing insufficient staff.

The institute recently began outpatient services across six departments, catering to an average of 300 patients daily. Despite this, systemic shortcomings, including the absence of a dedicated transport system, have left patients struggling. With no buses running to the facility, patients rely on limited tempo traveler services.

Principal Dr. Brij Sharma expressed unawareness of the issue, while the transport department claimed they are awaiting estimates to initiate special bus services.

The incident highlights the critical need for improved medical and transport infrastructure at the institute to cater to patients effectively.
