Dharamshala, July 2: Taking serious note of reports of overcrowding and alleged lapses in safety standards in school buses across Kangra district, the District Child Welfare Committee (CWC) has directed the Regional Transport Officers (RTOs) of Dharamshala and Dehra to ensure strict enforcement of prescribed norms.
CWC Chairperson Vikramjeet Sharma said the committee has sought a compliance report within 15 days on key safety measures, including adherence to seating capacity, prevention of overloading, installation of CCTV cameras, and deployment of a woman attendant in buses carrying girl students. The committee has also sought details of compliance reports submitted by schools regarding these safety requirements.
The CWC reiterated its commitment to safeguarding children’s rights and welfare, urging residents to report cases related to child safety or rights violations through its office or official email for prompt action.
