Committed to Develop UHF Nauni into a Global Centre of Learning and Innovation: Dr Baweja

Dr Harminder Singh Baweja, who assumed charge as the Vice-Chancellor of Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry (UHF), Nauni on Saturday, was accorded a warm welcome by the university’s students, faculty and staff upon formally taking office.

On Monday morning, Dr Baweja called on the Hon’ble Governor of Himachal Pradesh and Chancellor of the university, Shri Kavinder Gupta, and thanked him for the opportunity to serve the agriculture, horticulture and forestry sectors through the university. During the meeting, he discussed the functioning and future vision of the university and assured the Chancellor of the university’s full commitment towards strengthening research, extension and academic activities while providing the best possible learning environment for students.

The Vice-Chancellor also held discussions with university’s statutory officers and Heads of Departments regarding the ongoing activities and future plans of various departments. He stated that the university would make every effort to further strengthen its academic, research and extension programmes so that UHF Nauni can attain greater heights and enhance its national and international standing.

During the day, Dr Baweja met representatives of several associations, including the University Teachers Association and Non-Teaching and Technical Associations. He interacted with members of all the associations, listened to their concerns and assured them that a comprehensive roadmap would be prepared to address the issues faced by employees. During his interaction with students, Dr Baweja assured them of his commitment towards transforming the campus into a world-class centre of learning and research.

Expressing gratitude for the warm reception, Dr Baweja thanked the university staff and office bearers of various employees’ associations for their support and goodwill. He emphasized the importance of collective efforts for the overall development of the university and urged all stakeholders to work together so that UHF Nauni can effectively serve the farming community and continue to play a leading role in the advancement of the horticulture and forestry sectors.
