Himachal Pradesh, November 4, 2025 — Former Union Minister and MP from Hamirpur, Anurag Singh Thakur said that the approval of the ₹1,422 crore health infrastructure project under the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is a result of the continuous efforts of the Central Government.
He stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has always shown special commitment towards the development of Himachal Pradesh. He criticized the state government for misleading the public by portraying the sanctioned amount as entirely funded by the state, whereas 80% is supported through external assistance approved by the Centre.
The project will strengthen statewide healthcare services including a ₹300 crore cancer hospital in Hamirpur and modern upgrades worth ₹650 crore in major medical institutions across Hamirpur, Nahan, Mandi, Tanda, Chamba and IGMC Shimla. Key facilities such as 3 Tesla MRI machines, LINAC units for advanced cancer treatment, robotic surgery systems, digital healthcare expansion and 67 model health institutions are included.
Anurag Thakur thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda for this major healthcare grant for Himachal Pradesh.
