7 Persons with Disabilities Approved for Legal Guardianship in Shimla

Shimla, June 18: The Local Level Committee under the National Trust Act, 1999, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap, approved legal guardianship for seven new persons with disabilities in the district. The Act provides for the protection and welfare of persons with autism, cerebral palsy, intellectual disabilities, and multiple disabilities through the appointment of legal guardians.
Officials informed the committee that legal guardians have already been appointed for 108 persons with disabilities in Shimla district. The seven newly received applications were also approved. The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that guardianship appointments should be processed without delay and that guardians must act in the best interests of the individuals under their care, including matters related to health, education, rehabilitation, housing, and property management.
