Ragi-Based Nutrition Initiative Shows Positive Results Among Children in Bhoranj
Bhoranj, October 7: A nutrition intervention launched by the district administration in Bhoranj to address malnutrition among children is showing encouraging results within a few months.
Under the pilot project, ragi powder is being distributed to 408 malnourished children through various Anganwadi centres under the Child Development Project, Bhoranj. Deputy Commissioner Gandharva Rathore said significant improvements have been observed in the children’s height, weight and other health parameters.
Rathore said the first 1,000 days of a child’s life, from conception to the second birthday, are crucial for physical and brain development. Ensuring proper nutrition during this period can help children lead healthier lives.
She said traditional foods and millets are rich in essential nutrients and can play an important role in preventing malnutrition. The ragi powder and nutritious preparations made from it are being provided to the children, who are also responding positively to the food.
