Seminar Held on Seventh Day of Wildlife Week 2026
Shimla, October 7: The Wildlife Wing of the Himachal Pradesh Forest Department organised a seminar-cum-webinar at the Forest Headquarters, Shimla, on the seventh day of the 75th Wildlife Week–2026.
The programme focused on wildlife and biodiversity conservation, scientific research, community participation and effective management of human-wildlife conflict in Himachal Pradesh. Senior forest officials, wildlife experts, scientists, researchers and participants from various institutions attended the event, with forest officials from different circles joining virtually.
Experts delivered technical presentations on subjects including wildlife research and conservation, vulture conservation and community participation, evidence-based human-wildlife conflict mitigation, conservation of alpine and high-altitude grasslands, and plant diversity of Himachal Pradesh.
Dr Lalit Kumar Sharma of ZSI Kolkata highlighted scientific approaches to protecting wildlife habitats and livelihoods, while Dr Ranjana Negi of ICFRE-HFRI stressed the importance of high-altitude grasslands for water security, wildlife habitats and rural livelihoods.
The programme concluded with a summary and vote of thanks by Dinesh, Indian Forest Service, Deputy Conservator of Forests (Headquarters), Dharamshala. The seminar conveyed the message of collective efforts for biodiversity conservation, environmental protection and sustainable livelihoods of local communities.
