Rahul Gandhi’s voice cannot be suppressed: CM
• Congress stages protest outside Lok Bhavan under CM’s leadership
The Himachal Pradesh Congress today staged a protest outside Lok Bhavan under the leadership of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu against the detention of Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi and other MPs. The Chief Minister demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu termed Rahul Gandhi’s detention unfortunate. He said that Rahul Gandhi was fighting for the protection of democracy by taking to the streets, courting arrest and continuously raising the voice of the common people. He alleged that power was being acquired through stealing the votes and that such a government did not represent the genuine voice of the people.
The Chief Minister said that Congress workers would stage protests and demonstrations across the state tomorrow against what he described as the murder of democracy. He said Rahul Gandhi had raised his voice to strengthen democracy and that no one could suppress his voice.
He said Rahul Gandhi was not seeking any position or office, but was fighting to protect the Constitution and the democratic system that had sustained democracy in the country and under which Narendra Modi had become the Prime Minister.
The Chief Minister said that the people of Himachal Pradesh and Congress workers stood firmly with Rahul Gandhi.
