HPU Inter-College Judo Championship Concludes at Chail-Koti

Shimla, September 30: The two-day Himachal Pradesh University Inter-College Judo Championship 2026 concluded at Government College Chail-Koti on September 29, with Government PG College Solan emerging as the overall winner in the men’s category and Government College Bilaspur winning the women’s team championship.

The championship, held from September 28 to 29, witnessed participation from players representing various government colleges across Himachal Pradesh. Competitions were held in different weight categories for both men and women.

The championship was inaugurated by Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Anirudh Singh. At the closing ceremony and medal distribution function, Director of Higher Education Prof. Sunit Singh was the chief guest, while Director, Youth Programmes and Physical Education, Himachal Pradesh University, Dr. Sanjay Sharma, was present as the special guest.

In the women’s category, Government College Bilaspur secured gold medals in the 52 kg, 57 kg, 78 kg and 78+ kg categories. Other gold medallists included Dakshi of GDC Hamirpur (48 kg), Gunjan Thakur of GDC Solan (63 kg) and Ankita of the HPU Centre (70 kg).

In the men’s category, GDC Solan players won gold in the 60 kg, 90 kg and 100 kg categories. Other gold medallists included Shivanch of GDC Bilaspur (66 kg), Sahil Khanna of GDC Tissa (73 kg), Aditya Thakur of GDC Hamirpur (81 kg) and Aditya Thakur of GDC Tissa (100+ kg).

The host college, GDC Chail-Koti, also secured a bronze medal in the women’s 70 kg category through Bhavna Thakur.

The championship was conducted in accordance with the inter-college sports rules of Himachal Pradesh University. College officials, coaches and participating students attended the closing ceremony.
