67th District-Level Major Games Under-19 Boys Tournament Begins at Sunni
Shimla, September 30: The 67th District-Level Major Games Under-19 Boys Tournament was inaugurated at Government Senior Secondary School, Sunni, on Tuesday. A total of 326 participants from 26 schools are taking part in various sporting disciplines.
AICC spokesperson and Theog MLA Kuldeep Singh Rathore was the chief guest, while District Shimla Grameen Congress President Hari Krishan Himral attended as the guest of honour.
Addressing the participants, Rathore encouraged students to stay away from drugs and focus on sports and education. He also spoke about recent initiatives in Himachal Pradesh to promote sporting talent. The state government has increased cash awards for international sporting achievements, including ₹4 crore for Asian Games gold, ₹2.5 crore for silver and ₹1.5 crore for bronze medals.
Rathore also praised the state’s education and infrastructure initiatives and appreciated the efforts of Education Minister Rohit Thakur and PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh.
Himral congratulated the participants and urged them to give their best and aim for national and international-level competitions.
Among those present on the occasion were Gopal Sharma, BCC President; Satya Verma, Chairperson, Nagar Panchayat; Rajesh Verma, SDM; Sunil Verma, Tehsildar; Nehal Thakur, Principal, GSSS Sunni; and several other officials, representatives and local leaders.
