NCERT/SCERT Textbooks Mandatory in Private Schools: Una Education Department

The Elementary Education Department in Una has directed all private schools to use only NCERT/SCERT-prescribed textbooks for students. Deputy Director Som Lal Dhiman said schools affiliated with CBSE or the Himachal Pradesh Board cannot make private publishers’ books compulsory. He warned that violations will invite action under the Right to Education Act, 2009 and the Himachal Pradesh Private Educational Institutions (Regulation) Act, 1997, to ensure uniform quality education and reduce the financial burden on parents.
