Poetry and Culture Take Centre Stage at Shimla Summer Festival Mushaira

Shimla, June 10: A vibrant Mushaira brought together poetry lovers, writers and literary enthusiasts at the historic Gaiety Theatre during the International Shimla Summer Festival 2026, creating an evening filled with literature, culture and soulful expressions.

Deputy Commissioner Shimla and Chairman of the Summer Festival Organising Committee, Anupam Kashyap, attended the event as the chief guest and honoured participating poets. He praised the invaluable contribution of poets and literary figures in preserving cultural heritage and promoting meaningful dialogue through literature.

The Mushaira featured 17 renowned poets and writers from across Himachal Pradesh, who captivated the audience with their ghazals, nazms and poetic recitations. Eminent literary personalities including retired IAS officer Dr. Vinod Prakash Shukla, Dwijendra Dwij and Zahid Abrol were part of the presidium.

Poets from Shimla, Dharamshala, Kangra, Nahan, Arki, Baijnath, Baddi, Nagrota and Sujanpur presented their works, creating a memorable literary atmosphere and showcasing the richness of Urdu and Hindi poetry.

The event highlighted the Summer Festival’s commitment to promoting literature, language and cultural traditions alongside its entertainment and tourism activities.
