Shipkila House Shines at St. Thomas’ Junior Sports Day

Shimla, June 4, 2026: St. Thomas’ School, Shimla, successfully organized its Annual Junior Sports Day, providing young learners with an exciting platform to showcase their athletic abilities, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The event was conducted in two segments, with participation from students of Nursery to Grade II and Grade III to Grade V.

Students from the school’s four houses—Shipkila, Toshqui, Kasturi, and Chinar—participated enthusiastically in a wide range of sporting events. The Sports Day commenced with an oath-taking ceremony, followed by an impressive march past by all four houses. Shipkila House emerged as the winner and was awarded the Best March Past Trophy.

A captivating musical drill presentation by students from all four houses added colour and energy to the event, drawing applause from the audience. Parents attended in large numbers and cheered enthusiastically for the young participants.

The event featured a variety of activities and competitions, including Taekwondo demonstrations, flat races, three-legged races, ball pick-up and drop races, zig-zag races, mass PT, and musical drill performances. Students displayed remarkable enthusiasm, confidence, and sporting spirit throughout the programme.

At the conclusion of the event, winners were felicitated with certificates and medals in recognition of their achievements.

Addressing the gathering, Principal Sharon Nanda emphasized that the objective of the Junior Sports Day was to promote sportsmanship, physical fitness, teamwork, discipline, and healthy competition among children. She also expressed her gratitude to the Chief Guests, parents, staff members, and students for making the event a grand success.
