Shimla, May 29: Auckland House School, Shimla on Friday organised a grand Alumnae Meet and heritage celebration as former students returned to their alma mater to relive memories and celebrate the institution’s glorious journey spanning over 160 years.

The programme began with a special prayer service followed by the launch of a commemorative coffee table book and the release of a special postal cover marking the school’s rich educational and cultural legacy. A special podcast showcasing memories, stories and milestones from the school’s remarkable journey was also telecast during the event.

One of the highlights of the celebration was the re- inauguration of the Old Hall, a place closely associated with generations of Auckland and the institution’s heritage. An alumnae plantation drive themed “Planting Memories and Growing the Future” was also organised on the campus planting 160 saplings.

The celebrations concluded with lunch at the school dining hall and friendly sports fixtures between Class XII students and former students, creating an atmosphere filled with nostalgia, warmth and school spirit.

Bishop of the Diocese of Amritsar Rt. Rev. Manoj Charan presided over the function and appreciated the institution for preserving its values, traditions and commitment towards holistic education over generations.

Former MP Pratibha Singh and Dr. Amreen Kaur were also present on the occasion and interacted with students and alumnae. Pratibha Singh lauded the contribution of Auckland House School in shaping confident and socially responsible women and said the institution has remained one of Shimla’s most respected educational landmarks.

Principal of Auckland House School Smaraki Smantaroy said the event was not merely a reunion but a celebration of shared memories, values and the enduring bond between the school and its alumnae. She said Auckland House has continued to evolve with time while proudly preserving its heritage and traditions.

The programme also witnessed the presence of Auckland House School for Boys Founding Principal Michael John and current Principal Reuben John, who appreciated the spirit of togetherness and the deep emotional connection alumni continue to share with the institution.

School authorities highlighted that Auckland House School traces its origins to Holy Lodge on Jakhu Hill, where the institution was first established in 1866 as Punjab Girls School before later shifting to its present campus. The institution had earlier marked its 150-year celebrations with a grand heritage procession and several commemorative events reflecting its rich historical legacy and contribution to education in Himachal Pradesh and beyond.
