The play Mukadama was staged today at the historic Gaiety Theatre by Emotions Globe Art Theatre, celebrating contemporary ideas through satire and performance. The play, directed by Adhiraj, featured a powerful trio of actors—Adhiraj himself, along with Prem Kumar and Priyanshu Adhitya —who brought the script to life with sharp wit and engaging performances.
The storyline revolved around a man who walks into court and declares that he has killed God. What follows is a satirical courtroom drama, where the accused insists on being punished, leading to humorous and thought-provoking arguments. As the plot unfolds, it becomes clear that the “God” he has killed is not the spiritual or religious one, but a fake version created by people for profit and power. The real message of the play shines through: the man, though calling himself an atheist, is actually a true believer in humanity, truth, and unity.
The three actors showcased remarkable chemistry on stage. Adhiraj, in his dual role as director and the character of Judge, balanced intense moments with comic relief effectively. Prem Kumar the convict and Priyanshu who played role of a lawyer as provided solid support, each adding depth and timing to the overall performance.
The audience responded warmly to the performance, often bursting into laughter and applause. The dialogues were crisp, the scenes moved at a good pace, and there was hardly a dull moment. However, the ending felt a bit abrupt. With some creative liberty and a slower wrap-up, the conclusion could have had a stronger emotional impact.
Despite this, Mukadama was a breath of fresh air—a rare mix of humour and philosophy that entertained while subtly challenging blind faith and social divisions.
