HPSDMA Conducts Workshop on Disaster Communication for Media Professionals

SHIMLA, Aug. 6: The Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (HPSDMA), Department of Revenue, Government of Himachal Pradesh, on Thursday organised a one-day orientation workshop on “Media Communication and Information Management During Disasters” for print and electronic media professionals.
The workshop aimed to strengthen the capacity of media personnel in crisis communication, responsible reporting, coordinated public messaging, and effective information management during disasters.
The programme was chaired by Dr. Pushpendra Rana, Director-cum-Special Secretary (Revenue–Disaster Management), Government of Himachal Pradesh. Shri Nishant Thakur, Additional Secretary (Revenue–Disaster Management), and Shri Sunil Verma, Additional Secretary (Revenue–Disaster Management), were also present.
Technical sessions were conducted by Shri Hridayesh Joshi and Shri Mayank Aggarwal, focusing on best practices in disaster communication, media coordination, and the timely dissemination of authentic and verified information during emergencies.
The workshop concluded with an interactive session, highlighting the critical role of the media in ensuring accurate, responsible, and coordinated communication during disaster situations.
