Shimla, July 3 — A meeting of the District Implementation Committee under the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana was held today under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap. The meeting reviewed the scheme’s progress, targets, and ways to better disseminate information among beneficiaries.
The Deputy Commissioner directed concerned departments to ensure timely benefits to traditional artisans and craftsmen identified under the scheme. He said the scheme aims to empower traditional craft and artisan communities by providing them training, financial assistance, modern tools, and marketing support.
Under the PM Vishwakarma Yojana, traditional artisans using manual tools are offered a range of support including concessional enterprise development loans of up to ₹3 lakh at a 5% interest rate, skill development training, and toolkits to help modernize their craft.
The Deputy Commissioner informed that 222 applications from the district were approved in today’s meeting. However, he cautioned that applications are often rejected due to incorrect banking details. He appealed to the public to submit accurate banking information to avoid missing out on government benefits.
The meeting was attended by GM District Industries Centre Kulwant Rai, Lead District Manager Sanjay Kanwar, and other committee members.
