HFRI Conducts Three-Day Lecture-cum-Seminar Workshop for 133 Eco Task Force

Shimla, Sep 26, 2026: The Himalayan Forest Research Institute (HFRI), Shimla, conducted a three-day lecture-cum-seminar workshop for personnel of 133 Eco Task Force (DOGRA), Kufri, Himachal Pradesh, with the objective of enhancing their technical knowledge and field capabilities in forestry and environmental conservation.

The workshop was conducted under the guidance of Dr Manisha Thapliyal, Director, HFRI, and featured lectures by eminent scientists and academicians, including Dr Pawan Kumar, Scientist, HFRI; Dr Ranjana Kumari Negi, Scientist, HFRI; Dr (Prof) Mahavir Singh, Vice Chancellor, Himachal Pradesh University; Dr Harinder Singh Banyal, Chairman, Department of Biosciences, HPU; Dr Meena Choudhary, Associate Professor, HPU; and Dr Jagveer, Head & Professor (Retd), Punjab University, Patiala.

The lectures covered important aspects of application of bio-fertilisers and bio-pesticides in forestry practices, seed collection and nursery management, plantation techniques and forest fire mitigation. The sessions provided practical and scientific insights relevant to afforestation, nursery operations, forest protection and ecological restoration.

The participation of personnel of 133 Eco Task Force in the workshop provided an opportunity for interaction with experts and exchange of knowledge on contemporary forestry practices. The training is expected to further strengthen the effectiveness of the unit’s ongoing efforts towards afforestation, forest protection and environmental conservation in the Himalayan region.
