Nardev Singh Kanwar calls for strengthening cess collection strategy

Chairman of the Himachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (HP BOCW) Nardev Singh Kanwar presided over a review meeting of the Board here today in which issues concerning the welfare and demands of construction workers were discussed in detail.
He said that Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has consistently prioritized the well-being of construction workers, and in line with this vision, discussions centered on strategies to increase cess collection for the Board. He emphasized the critical role of labour officers in this process and directed them to conduct thorough inspections to ensure effective collection of cess.
The Chairman instructed officers to undertake immediate inspections at construction sites to guarantee compliance with cess collection requirements. He further underlined the necessity of category-wise cess collection from various establishments, including hotels, petrol stations, private educational institutions, private apartment complexes, and shopping malls, as this would directly support welfare initiatives for construction workers across the state.
He urged officers to enhance coordination and streamline reporting mechanisms to foster transparency and accountability in the collection process.
Secretary Labour and Employment Priyanka Basu Ingty, Secretary-Cum-CEO HPBOCW Rajiv Kumar, Labour Commissioner Virender Sharma, Deputy Labour Commissioner Munish Karol and all Labour Officers and Labour Welfare Officers of the Labour Department and HP BOCW were present in the meeting.
