Shimla, September 15: The capital of Himachal Pradesh, Shimla, has launched the “Vegetable on Wheels” initiative under the Natural Farming Scheme. Through this program, natural produce will be made available in every neighborhood.

C. Palrasu, the Secretary of the Horticulture Department, flagged off vehicles from Shimla by showing a green flag. Initially, it will be run as a pilot project. Upon the success of the pilot project, it will be expanded throughout the state.

C. Palrasu explained that plans related to natural produce were initiated in 2018. Under the government’s direction, a new pilot project is now being launched. This will also help raise awareness among the public. Through Vegetable on Wheels, these natural vegetables will be available to consumers at market rates.

In the beginning, these vehicles will visit neighborhoods once a week. The department is hopeful that the pilot project will be successful, and gradually, people throughout the state will embrace this initiative.
