Nesang, Himachal Pradesh: A massive landslide occurred in Nesang, Kinnaur district, Himachal Pradesh, resulting in a major disruption of traffic on National Highway 5 (NH-5). The incident, caused by falling boulders from the mountainside, blocked the highway for approximately five hours on Tuesday morning. Thousands of people, including commuters and farmers, faced significant inconveniences due to the highway closure.

According to reports, the landslide incident took place near Nesang Bridge early in the morning, obstructing the movement of NH vehicles. In response to the highway’s closure, a long line of vehicles formed on both sides, leading to hours of delays. However, the Border Roads Organization (BRO) swiftly cleared the road, and normal traffic was restored by 2:00 PM.

In light of the roadblock, essential supplies were delivered to Nesang via the Kaja route. Additionally, vehicles loaded with apples and peas from various parts of the district were rerouted through Kaja. With the highway now open, residents and traders in Kinnaur can breathe a sigh of relief.

Sanjeev Kumar Bhot, the Deputy Commissioner of Kinnaur, informed that two tankers carrying diesel and petrol had arrived in the district. The administration had imposed certain restrictions on the use of fuel in the region. Fuel limits were set at five liters for cars, two liters for motorcycles, 80 liters for trucks, ten liters for pickup trucks, and ten liters for school buses. These measures were taken to ensure the equitable distribution of fuel amid the landslide situation.

The Deputy Commissioner also mentioned that, as per the orders of the minister, an adequate supply of fuel was being provided to vehicles loaded with tourists, apples, and vegetables, ensuring smooth transportation and trade in the region.
