In a candid and insightful conversation with Aarzu Kumra, a 9th-grade student from Auckland House School, Dr. Usha Bande highlighted the importance of possessing a keen sense of observation and the ability to use the right words in the right context when it comes to writing. Dr. Bande, a former Fellow of the Indian Institute of Advanced Study in Shimla, discussed the profound influence of literature on culture and its role in shaping societies.

During the interview, Dr. Bande eloquently responded to each question, drawing from her own life experiences, which greatly contributed to her literary career. Her 35 years of teaching English at RKMV College, Shimla, exposed her to the world of literature, while her travels to the hills and other places like Goa and Kochi inspired her to craft remarkable short stories.

Dr. Usha Bande, a respected academician, prolific author, translator, and reviewer, has translated works from Hindi and Marathi into English and has been a regular contributor to literary journals such as Indian Literature. She retired as the Principal of Government College, Arki, in Solan, Himachal Pradesh.
