Shimla, August 21: The Municipal Corporation (MC) is set to transform the park located beneath Daulat Singh Park on the Shimla Ridge into a memorial park named “Shaheedi Park” to commemorate the sacrifices of the martyrs. This park will feature portraits of the martyrs along with narratives of their sacrifices. This announcement was made by the Mayor of the Municipal Corporation, Surendra Chauhan, during the “My Soil, My Country” event held at Daulat Singh Park on Monday.

During the event, the Mayor, along with council members and local residents, paid tribute to the martyrs in the park and planted saplings in their memory. Family members of the martyred soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country were also present on this occasion. Mayor Surendra Chauhan stated that under the Central Government’s “My Soil, My Country” initiative, homage was paid to the martyrs in the park today, honoring their sacrifices.

Shimla has contributed seven martyrs to the nation who laid down their lives for the country. In October, this park will be officially named “Shaheedi Park.” The Mayor mentioned that the greatest sacrifices for the country have been made by the brave hearts from the land of gods. With the intention of acquainting people with these heroes, the decision to establish this park has been taken by the Municipal Corporation.
