Webinar on “Understanding Innovation Ecosystem and Funding Opportunities”

Solan, August 2 – School of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Institutional Innovation Council at Shoolini University organised a webinar on the ‘Understanding Innovation Ecosystem and Funding Opportunities’ on Monday.
Prof. Deepak Kapoor, Dean School of Pharmaceutical Sciences welcomed the guests and briefed them about the key innovations going on at the school. Dr. Kamal Kant head of Institutional Innovation Council (IIC), Shoolini University also briefed about the initiatives and key projects of IIC.
The webinar was organised by Dr. Deepak Kumar, Associate Professor School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, and coordinated by Dr. Lalit Sharma, Assistant Professor, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences. The keynote speaker was Mr. Manish Anand, CEO, Divyasampark Technology Innovation Hub, IIT Roorkee.
The welcome note was presented by Shoolini University Vice-Chancellor Prof Atul Khosla. He gave the example of Silicon Valley, in the USA, which is the home to many start-ups and global technology companies, driven by UC Berkeley and Stanford University. Universities can be huge catalysts for economic growth and across the world islands of excellence have been immersed because of university support.
Shoolini University Chancellor Prof PK Khosla also addressed the audience and talked about the role of universities in research, innovation and, the industrial revolution.
Mr. Manish Anand from Divyasampark ,briefed about ‘Understanding Innovation Ecosystem and Funding Opportunities”, the set up at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee, one of the most innovative projects undertaken by the institute and the Government of India and financially supported by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. He talked about India’s research capabilities and the need for that research to convert into Innovation and how that can be turned beneficial to society. He also briefed about the innovation ecosystem and converting knowledge into useful products, challenges, and the process of technological innovation. In the end, he briefed about the funding opportunities under National Mission on Cyber-Physical Systems (NMICPS) and Technology Innovation Hubs. The session was ended by the Question and Answer round from the students and faculty.
The closing remark was presented by Prof. Deepak Kapoor, Dean School of Pharmaceutical Sciences. The event was conducted online through Zoom and around 300 students and faculty attended the webinar.
