Shimla, June 19: A delegation of the Himachal Pradesh University Teachers Welfare Association (HPUTWA), led by its President Dr. Nitin Vyas, met Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and submitted a memorandum highlighting key issues concerning higher education teachers in the state.

The association strongly urged the government to expedite long-pending teacher promotions and restore the Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) for faculty members working in colleges and universities across Himachal Pradesh. Dr. Vyas informed the Chief Minister that promotion and CAS-related processes have remained stalled for nearly four years, affecting the professional growth and morale of thousands of teachers.

He emphasized that timely promotions and CAS benefits are essential not only for teachers’ career progression but also for strengthening the quality of higher education, research, and academic excellence in the state.

Chief Minister Sukhu assured the delegation that the state government is committed to strengthening the education sector and will examine the demands sympathetically. He stated that the issues related to promotions and CAS would be taken up on priority and discussed with the concerned departments for an early resolution.

The meeting concluded on a positive note, with HPUTWA expressing hope that the government would soon take concrete steps to address the long-pending concerns of higher education teachers.
