Rohru, May 21: The upcoming Municipal Council elections in Rohru are set to become a remarkable example of women empowerment, with the entire election process being managed exclusively by women employees.
On Wednesday, all-women polling parties departed for their respective polling stations dressed in traditional Himachali attire, creating an atmosphere filled with cultural pride and enthusiasm. Women officials were seen wearing traditional ‘Dhathu’ and ‘Sadri’, beautifully showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the region.
Returning Officer (MC) and SDM Rohru, Dharmesh Ramotra, said that all polling stations in the Municipal Council Rohru elections will be operated entirely by women staff, making it a unique and inspiring initiative at both the state and national level.
He stated that women are demonstrating leadership, discipline and administrative efficiency in every field, and are fully capable of conducting an important democratic process like elections with responsibility and transparency. Assigning them this responsibility reflects confidence in their administrative abilities and professional competence.
A total of 14 polling parties have been constituted for the nine wards of Municipal Council Rohru. Out of these, nine polling teams will be deployed at polling stations, while four teams will remain on reserve duty.
Each polling party includes one Presiding Officer (PRO), one Assistant Presiding Officer (APRO), two polling officers and one security officer. Additionally, the responsibilities of one Sector Magistrate and three Sector Officers have also been assigned to women officials. Around 80 women employees have been deployed for the election process.
Officials said women employees will not only conduct polling but will also handle the sensitive responsibility of vote counting. The counting process will also be managed entirely by women staff, ensuring transparency and smooth conduct of the election.
The vote counting will take place at the Chanshal Conference Hall of the SDM Office. For this purpose, six counting teams have been formed, each comprising a Counting Supervisor, Counting Assistant and Micro Observer. Three teams will directly manage counting operations, while three additional teams will remain on reserve.
Officials expressed confidence that the dedication, discipline and efficiency of women employees will contribute significantly towards the successful conduct of the elections.
