Welfare Schemes Support Workers’ Children’s Education

Shimla: Welfare schemes of the Himachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board are providing significant financial support to worker families, particularly for children’s education.

Since January 2026, beneficiaries across the five Assembly constituencies of Shimla Zone have received financial assistance under various welfare schemes. This includes ₹20.73 lakh to 51 beneficiaries in Shimla Rural, ₹16.81 lakh to 26 beneficiaries in Chopal, ₹13.68 lakh to 41 beneficiaries in Theog, ₹6.16 lakh to 14 beneficiaries in Kasumpti and ₹3.95 lakh to 10 beneficiaries in Shimla Urban.

Board Chairman Nardev Singh Kanwar said the objective was to economically and socially empower worker families and ensure better educational opportunities for their children.

Board Secretary and CEO Anupam Kumar said the Board continues to provide assistance for education, marriage, medical treatment, maternity and paternity support, and other welfare needs. During 2026-27, ₹85.21 lakh has so far been released under various schemes, including ₹64.12 lakh for education.
