Reportedly, on Friday morning, Mahabir Singh of the Oyal village arrived in a state of extreme agitation, wielding a sharp blade. He first ruthlessly attacked his wife, attempting to fatally wound her by slashing her throat with the blade. Following this heinous act, he turned the blade on himself, inflicting severe self-harm.
Local residents rushed the injured wife to the Civil Hospital as news of the violent incident spread. Learning about Mahabir’s critical condition due to self-inflicted injuries, the police, accompanied by local residents, initiated a search to apprehend him. However, en route, traces of blood were discovered, leading to the discovery of Mahabir in a semi-conscious state on the other side of the Som Bhadra River. He was promptly transported to the Civil Hospital in Gagarote for medical attention.
Upon reaching the hospital, the police attempted to record the statement of the injured wife. However, due to her critical condition, she was unable to provide a statement. According to DSP Dr. Vasudha Sood, the police are diligently investigating the intricacies of the case. The current medical assessment suggests that both individuals are in a critical condition, teetering on the edge of danger.
