Sunni Reviews Phase-II Anti-Drug Campaign, Calls for Stronger Community Participation

Sunni, September 20, 2026: A Phase-II, Part-II meeting of the Anti-Drug Committee was held at Government Senior Secondary School, Sunni, under the chairmanship of Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Civil) Sunni Rajesh Verma.

The meeting reviewed the activities being undertaken by the committee and assessed the progress of the anti-drug campaign so far. Representatives of various departments briefed the meeting on measures being taken to prevent drug abuse and raise public awareness.

The SDM directed all concerned departments to continue anti-drug activities through close coordination. He said that, as the Sunni Nagar Panchayat area has been identified as a Highly Vulnerable Area/Panchayat from the drug-related perspective, there was a need for focused awareness and prevention campaigns in the area.

The Nagar Panchayat Sunni was directed to reconstitute anti-drug committees, wherever required, by including willing, responsible and active members committed to eliminating drug abuse and supporting anti-drug initiatives.

It was also directed that newly elected councillors of Nagar Panchayat Sunni be included in the Anti-Drug Committee to ensure active participation of local representatives and strengthen awareness and prevention efforts.

Tehsildar Sunni Sunil Chauhan, Nagar Panchayat President Satya Verma, members of the committee and representatives of Mahila Mandals were among those present.
