Sugar Storage Limit for Wholesalers Reduced to 2,000 Quintals

Mandi, September 14: The storage limit for sugar wholesalers has been reduced from 4,000 quintals to 2,000 quintals, District Controller, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Mandi, Brijendra Singh Pathania said.

He said that as per the revised notification issued in September 2026, each sugar wholesaler can now store a maximum of 2,000 quintals of sugar. The earlier limit, notified in August 2026, was 4,000 quintals.

All sugar wholesalers in Mandi district are required to register on the Food Stock Portal and update their existing sugar stock on the portal every Friday.

The District Controller warned that furnishing incorrect stock details or failing to update the information within the prescribed time would invite strict legal action under the Essential Commodities Act, 1955.

He has also directed all inspectors in the district to maintain strict vigil over sugar stocks and take action against any irregularities as per law.
