Bhupender Gupta, CMD, SJVN, Commemorates Commercial Operation of Unit-II of 1320 MW Buxar Thermal Power Project

Bhupender Gupta, Chairman & Managing Director, SJVN, inaugurated a program organized at project premises to commemorate significant milestone of commercial operation of Unit-II (660 MW) of 1320 MW Buxar Thermal Power Project (BTPP) in Bihar. Sh. Rajesh Kumar Chandel, Director (Projects), SJVN, was also present on the occasion.
Bhupender Gupta marked the occasion by cutting the ribbon and pressing the ceremonial inauguration button. He also inaugurated the Centralized Control Room of the Project and visited key operational components, including the Ash Dyke, to take stock of operational preparedness and functioning.
Addressing Team STPL, Bhupender Gupta congratulated entire team on the achievement and attributed the milestone to their collective efforts, dedication and teamwork. Highlighting the strategic importance, Sh. Gupta stated that project will play an important role in meeting the energy requirements of Bihar and supporting socio-economic development of the state. He called upon Team STPL to maintain the momentum and focus on safe, efficient and reliable operation of the power plant.
Bhupender Gupta and Rajesh Kumar Chandel were accorded a warm welcome by Pulak Kumar Mukhopadhyay, Chief Executive Officer, SJVN Thermal Private Limited (STPL), along with senior officials of STPL.
On this occasion, Rajesh Kumar Chandel, Director (Projects) appreciated the commitment and sustained efforts of Team STPL and credited the achievement to strong team spirit of everyone associated with the project.
During the visit, Sh. Bhupender Gupta and Sh. Rajesh Kumar Chandel also met Sh. Ajay Yadav, Secretary (Energy), Government of Bihar and Smt. Sahila, District Magistrate, Buxar. During the meeting, detailed discussions was held on various issues related to project including land acquisition works, CSR, PSP projects, PPA-related issues, renewable power available with SJVN and potential investment opportunities in Bihar.
Underscoring SJVN’s commitment to environmental conservation, Sh. Bhupender Gupta and Sh. Rajesh Kumar Chandel also planted saplings at the Project premises.
The 1320 MW Buxar Thermal Power Project, located at Chausa in Buxar District, Bihar, has been implemented by SJVN Thermal Private Limited (STPL), a wholly owned subsidiary of SJVN.
