Strong Banking Facilities Essential to Strengthen Rural Economy: Sanjay Awasthi

MLA Inaugurates Newly Constructed Jogindra Central Cooperative Bank Building at Bharari Ghat

Solan, August 17, 2026: Arki MLA Sanjay Awasthi said that strengthening banking infrastructure and ensuring accessible financial services are essential to further strengthening the rural economy. He was addressing a gathering after inaugurating the newly constructed building of Jogindra Central Cooperative Bank at Bharari Ghat in Daseran Gram Panchayat of Arki Assembly constituency.

Awasthi said strengthening banking facilities in rural areas is the need of the hour. Along with improving basic infrastructure such as roads, drinking water and electricity, efforts are also being made to ensure that financial services reach people at the grassroots level.

He said cooperative banks serve as the backbone of the rural economy by providing farmers, horticulturists and rural residents with a range of financial and banking services. Such facilities help promote economic activity at the local level and provide financial support to people seeking to become self-reliant.

The MLA said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the state government is committed to taking development schemes and essential facilities to villages across Himachal Pradesh. He urged the bank management to undertake greater awareness initiatives regarding various banking schemes, loan facilities and digital banking services so that eligible residents can make maximum use of them.

Awasthi also listened to the grievances and demands of local residents during the programme. He directed the concerned departmental officials to ensure that people’s issues are addressed on priority.

Jogindra Central Cooperative Bank Chairman Mukesh Sharma said the bank is continuously working to provide improved banking facilities to people in rural areas. He said the bank aims to ensure access to banking services for every eligible person in rural communities and urged residents to take maximum advantage of the bank’s schemes and services.
