Shimla to Host First Anti-Chitta Inter-District Volleyball Championship During Summer Festival

Shimla, May 29: The first-ever Anti-Chitta Under-21 Inter-District Volleyball Championship will be organised as part of the Shimla Summer Festival 2026, with selection trials for the district boys’ volleyball team scheduled for June 5 at the MC Ground, Sanjauli.
Additional District Magistrate (Law & Order) Pankaj Sharma said the trials will begin at 10 am, and aspiring players must carry their original date of birth certificate and Aadhaar card. Only players born on or after January 1, 2006, will be eligible to participate.
The selection trials aim to identify the best volleyball talent from Shimla district and form three district teams that will represent Shimla in the prestigious championship.
The tournament is being organised under the Anti-Chitta campaign launched to create awareness among youth about the harmful effects of drug abuse and encourage them to adopt healthy lifestyles through sports.
To promote wider participation, attractive cash prizes have been announced. The winning team will receive ₹1 lakh, while the runners-up and third-placed teams will be awarded ₹50,000 and ₹25,000 respectively, along with trophies and medals.
In addition, five quarterfinalist teams will receive ₹20,000 each. Individual awards carrying a cash prize of ₹5,000 each and mementoes will be presented to the Best Attacker, Best Blocker, Best Setter and Best Libero of the tournament.
The organising committee will also provide travel allowance, daily allowance and accommodation facilities to participating players.
