Shimla, June 6: The Shimla district administration will conduct its 10th Mega Mock Exercise on June 15 to assess preparedness and emergency response mechanisms for disasters such as cloudbursts, forest fires and earthquakes.
The exercise will be held in two phases, with simulated cloudburst scenarios in Rampur and Sunni and a forest fire response drill at Tara Devi. A tabletop exercise is also scheduled for June 12 to finalize plans and coordination mechanisms.
SDM (Urban) Oshin Sharma, who chaired a district-level review meeting, said the exercise aims to evaluate disaster management plans, emergency response procedures and inter-agency coordination among stakeholders. Teams from NDMA, SDRF, CISF, police, health and other departments will participate, while observers will monitor the response at various levels.
Officials have been directed to activate Incident Response Teams and ensure community participation to strengthen disaster preparedness across the district.
