The Shimla district administration has placed all departments on mission mode for the monsoon season, with Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority Anupam Kashyap ordering the immediate cancellation of all sanctioned leave for government officers and employees until September 30, 2026. The decision has been taken in view of the increasing incidents of cloudbursts, landslides, flash floods and disruption of essential services during the monsoon.
Officials have been directed to remain stationed at their headquarters, keep communication channels active and be prepared for immediate deployment during any emergency. Fresh leave will not be granted except in exceptional circumstances with prior approval of the competent authority. The administration has also warned that absence from duty or leaving headquarters without formal permission will invite disciplinary action. The district administration said search and rescue, relief, rehabilitation and the prompt restoration of essential services will remain the top priority throughout the monsoon season.
