Scientists Educate Farmers on Advanced Agricultural and Horticultural Practices

Shimla June 04: Scientists from ICAR–Indian Agricultural Research Institute, Shimla, launched the *Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan* on May 29, 2025. Over a week, they engaged with farmers from several panchayats in Tutu block, Shimla district, sharing insights on advanced techniques in Kharif crops (maize, fodder, capsicum, tomato, beans, eggplant), horticulture (kiwi, strawberry, pomegranate, apple, stone fruits, persimmon), mushroom cultivation, beekeeping, and organic farming. They also explained central and state welfare schemes in detail. Technical awareness and outreach programs were held with the collaboration of agriculture and horticulture department officials, reaching over 1600 farmers. The initiative was led by Dr. Kallol Pramanik and supported by a team of senior scientists and extension officers.
