1 min read

Arki, August 13, 2026: Arki MLA Sanjay Awasthi said that increasing the income of farmers and horticulturists and strengthening rural areas remain key priorities of the state government.

Awasthi inaugurated the first phase of the HP Shiva Project by planting a guava sapling at the Chunad and Gyana clusters in Arki constituency. He said the project aims to promote high-density horticulture and improve the economic prospects of rural families.

He said 12 HP Shiva clusters have been established in Solan district, including seven in Arki. Officials were directed to expand the clusters and bring adjoining panchayats under the project so that more farmers can benefit.

The MLA also emphasized regular inspection of plantations and monitoring of plant survival rates, stressing that the project should not be limited to planting saplings but should ensure their successful growth.

Around 6,000 plants have been planted across 10 hectares at the Chunad cluster, while approximately 3,650 high-density guava plants of varieties including Jarvi, Red Shweta and Hisar Safeda have been planted across 3.5 hectares at the Gyana cluster. The project involves an estimated expenditure of ₹2 crore and includes lift irrigation, drip irrigation, solar-powered fencing and plantation activities.

Around 41 farmers are expected to benefit from the initiative.

Awasthi also heard the grievances of local residents and directed officials to address them promptly. Horticulture officials provided detailed information about the project and the plantation activities.
