Revenue Minister directs DCs to ensure relief to all disaster-affected families

Revenue, Horticulture, Tribal Development and Public Grievances Redressal Minister Jagat Singh Negi reviewed the progress of the special relief packages for the years 2023, 2024 and 2025 and the status of the post-disaster needs assessment (PDNA) for 2023 at a meeting held here today. Deputy Commissioners from all the districts attended the meeting virtually.

The Minister directed all Deputy Commissioners to prepare complete details of fully and partially damaged houses, cowsheds, shops and other properties affected by disasters.

He said that complaints had been received from some areas that certain families had not received assistance under the special relief package. He directed the Deputy Commissioners to identify all families who had been left out of the package and ensure that their cases were examined and eligible relief assistance provided at the earliest.

A meeting of the Cabinet Sub-Committee, chaired by Jagat Singh Negi, was also held to discuss measures to reduce congestion in Shimla city, major industrial areas such as BBN and district headquarters. The Sub-Committee has been constituted to examine various measures for decongestion, including the relocation of major markets.

Deputy Commissioner Shimla apprised that land had been identified for relocating the grain market, vegetable market, timber market and transport market in Shimla. He said that a final report would be submitted at the next meeting.

Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh was also present at the meeting. MLA Harish Janartha, Director Urban Development Neeraj Kumar and officials of the Town and Country Planning Department also attended the meeting.
