1 min read

Shimla: On March 21, 2025, Rajni Patil, Rajya Sabha MP and Himachal Pradesh Congress In-Charge, strongly raised the issue of Himachal Pradesh’s natural disaster compensation in the Rajya Sabha. She criticized the Modi government for its discriminatory approach toward the state after the devastating 2023 monsoon disaster. Over 500 lives were lost, and infrastructure worth thousands of crores was destroyed, yet the state was given only 400 crores against the requested 10,000 crores for recovery. Patil emphasized the need for immediate release of the remaining funds and condemned the government’s approach of playing politics even in times of crisis. She also questioned the functioning of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and supported other states like Wayanad that faced similar natural calamities.
