Polling to be Held in 118 Gram Panchayats of Chamba District on May 26

Chamba, May 24: Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer (Panchayat) Mukesh Repaswal informed that polling parties have been dispatched along with election material to their respective polling stations for the smooth conduct of the first phase of Panchayati Raj General Elections 2026.

He said that under the first phase, voting will be conducted on May 26 in 118 gram panchayats across Chamba district.

According to the administration, polling will take place in 16 gram panchayats of Bharmour development block, 17 of Mehla, 16 of Chamba, 24 of Bhattiyat, 16 of Salooni, 19 of Tissa and 10 gram panchayats of Pangi block.

Mukesh Repaswal stated that a total of 676 wards fall under these gram panchayats, including 18 Zila Parishad wards and 46 Panchayat Samiti wards.

He said all polling personnel have been provided necessary training and instructions as per Election Commission guidelines to ensure smooth and transparent conduct of the election process.

The Deputy Commissioner appealed to voters to participate fearlessly and exercise their franchise in a fair, peaceful and impartial manner without any influence or inducement. He also urged people to actively participate in the democratic process.

Polling on May 26 will be held in several gram panchayats across development blocks including Rajnidu, Sidkund, Paluhin, Chambi, Khajjiyar, Kugti, Holi, Chanju, Mangli, Athlui, Kariyan, Sural, Killar, Khadjota, Kihar, Gola, Kathla, Taragarh, Sherpur and many other panchayats spread across the district.
