Poetry Collection ‘Udaas Hai Dharti’ Released at Historic Gaiety Theatre

Shimla, June 7: The newly published poetry collection ‘Udaas Hai Dharti’ by noted poet and storyteller Gupteshwar Nath Upadhyay was formally released at the historic Gaiety Theatre in Shimla during a literary programme organised by Kikli Charitable Trust.
The event was chaired by eminent litterateur and retired IAS officer Srinivas Joshi. Literary scholars Prof. Meenakshi F. Paul, Atma Ranjan, Dinesh Sharma and Vidyanidhi Chhabra shared their critical perspectives on the collection and appreciated its literary merit, contemporary relevance and emotional depth. In his presidential address, Srinivas Joshi highlighted the significance and social concerns reflected in the poems.
The programme was conducted by Dr. Satyanarayan Snehi and witnessed the participation of around 50 writers, poets and cultural personalities from Shimla and other parts of Himachal Pradesh. District Language Officer Sarojna Narwal, the author’s wife Shail Upadhyay and several prominent literary figures were present on the occasion.
Published by Ayan Prakashan, New Delhi, ‘Udaas Hai Dharti’ is the latest addition to Upadhyay’s literary oeuvre, which includes three short story collections, two novels and three poetry books.
