Dharamsala, January 15: The Deputy Commissioner of Kangra, Hemraj Bairwa, launched the ‘Mission Trupti’ campaign today from the district administration office. The initiative, in collaboration with the Women and Child Development Department, aims to provide special focus on the nutrition of infants from conception to two years of age.
Bairwa emphasized the importance of the first 1000 days of a child’s life for their overall development. The campaign will involve monitoring infant nutrition and raising awareness among families, with the help of Anganwadi workers, ASHA workers, and local Panchayats.
Key Features of the Mission:
– ‘My Bowl’ Initiative: To ensure adequate nutrition, children will be provided with individual bowls and glasses for better tracking of their food intake.
– Complementary Feeding: After six months of age, emphasis will be placed on introducing nutritious foods.
– Awareness on Junk Food: Families will be educated to avoid giving processed or junk foods to children, ensuring better physical and mental health.
Bairwa also highlighted the importance of breastfeeding exclusively for the first six months and gradually introducing complementary feeding thereafter.
The initiative aims to prevent malnutrition and promote the overall well-being of children in the district.
