Legal Aid Camp organised by Shoolini University at Sanhol Panchayat

Faculty of Legal Sciences, Shoolini University, under the aegis of Legal Aid Committee, organised a Legal Aid Camp at Sanhol Panchayat Jatoli, Solan. The Legal Aid programme aimed at awareness on major issues faced by the people in day-to-day life.
The Faculty Coordinators of the committee Ms. Poonam Pant and Mr. Vineet Kumar hosted the event.
Ms. Saloni Thakur, student, BA. LLB – 5th semester presented a detailed overview on the protection of women under the Domestic Violence Act 2005. She referred to instances of physical, mental, and financial violence on women and cited the current statistics on domestic violence in India.
Ms. Pooja Bhoomia student, BA. LLB- 7th semester explained the importance of Right to Information Act 2005. She elaborated the process of RTI application in India and shared examples on procedure and duration to receive the information from concerned departments.  Mr. Goutam Sharma student, BA. LLB -7th Semester gave an illustrative presentation on Consumer rights. He explained how a consumer is a king of the market and how people can be a diligent consumer of the market. He further described consumers have right to protection and are duty bound to be an alert consumer.
During the event the Cultural team of Information and Public Relation (IPR) Department presented a cultural programme with an aim to promote awareness on schemes and initiatives for the welfare of the people, women and youth of India led by the Government of India and Government of Himachal Pradesh.
Ms. Kusum Thakur, Panchayat Pradhan, appreciated the initiative on legal aid taken by the Shoolini University. She praised the University’s contributions and assured to contact the Legal aid department and spread awareness at the Panchayat level.

Associate Dean, Faculty of Legal Sciences, Dr. Nandan Sharma said and directed the Legal Aid Committee to regularly conduct such Legal Aid Camps. He assured that the Committee and the students will continue to provide Free Legal Aid to the people as per the Legal Service Authority Act, 1987 to fulfil the mandate of Article 39 of the Constitution of India.
