Kasumpti to Get New Water Network Under Shimla’s 24×7 Supply Project
Shimla: Residents of Kasumpti are set to get a modernised water supply network as pipeline-laying work under SJPNL’s 24×7 continuous and pressurised water supply project begins in the ward from tomorrow.
The work is being undertaken under Package 5 of the project, with Panthaghati also scheduled to be covered shortly. The initiative goes beyond replacing old pipelines and will include new water storage tanks and fresh household service connections.
The new network is aimed at improving water pressure, reliability and continuity of supply while strengthening the overall drinking water infrastructure of Shimla. Pipeline work under other project packages is already underway in different parts of the city.
To ensure better coordination with residents, NGO teams are conducting door-to-door awareness drives, explaining the work schedule and recording public concerns and suggestions.
Kasumpti Councillor Rachna Sharma has asked the project agencies to ensure that construction causes minimum inconvenience to residents and that safety measures are strictly followed.
Residents have been urged to cooperate with the project teams as work progresses towards creating a more reliable 24×7 drinking water system for Shimla.
