Mandi, April 29: Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur has accused the state government of violating the Model Code of Conduct during the ongoing election period. In a statement issued from Mandi, he alleged that the government is misusing official machinery and resources to benefit select individuals and influence voters.
Thakur claimed that outsourcing agencies linked to ruling party leaders are offering employment inducements to youth, calling it an unethical practice during elections. He urged the Election Commission to take immediate cognizance and ensure strict compliance with electoral norms. He also warned against misuse of public funds and administrative influence for campaign purposes.
Targeting Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, he alleged that the government is resorting to unfair means out of electoral pressure and called for transparent and fair elections.
Earlier, Thakur attended a religious event in Seraj, seeking blessings and interacting with local residents and party workers.
