The Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Cell of Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla, under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena, successfully conducted its 5th Intra Mediation Competition, 2025 on 17th May across four dynamic slots. The event marked a significant milestone in the university’s commitment to fostering excellence in ADR practices.
Demonstrating growing interest in mediation as a vital legal skill, this year’s competition saw record participation from 80 university teams, reflecting HPNLU’s vibrant academic engagement and enthusiasm for dispute resolution. Themed around a challenging airline dispute, the competition required participants to craft amicable, practical, and commercially sustainable resolutions, mirroring real-life complexities.
The competition drew acclaim for its rigorous assessment process, adjudicated by esteemed experts from premier legal institutions such as Jindal Global Law School (JGLS), National Law University Delhi, and Gujarat National Law University (GNLU), Gandhinagar. Their insights and feedback significantly contributed to enhancing the practical learning of students.
In the lead-up to the event, the ADR Cell conducted a comprehensive training session, equipping participants with strategic negotiation and mediation tools—bridging theory with practice.
Organized under the guidance of Dr. Ruchi Gupta (Chairperson) and Dr. Bharat Barowalia (Coordinator), with tireless efforts from student members and volunteers, the event reaffirmed HPNLU’s vision to promote a culture of dialogue, resolution, and legal innovation through ADR.
