HPNLU Organises Orientation Session on Institute of Constitutional and Parliamentary Studies (ICPS)

Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla, under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, organised an orientation session on the Institute of Constitutional and Parliamentary Studies (ICPS) on 21 August 2026. The programme was conducted with the objective of acquainting students with the Institute’s academic initiatives, research activities, and opportunities in the fields of constitutional law, parliamentary democracy, legislative studies, and governance.
During the session, students were introduced to the history and objectives of ICPS, a premier institution dedicated to promoting constitutional and parliamentary studies in India. The participants were informed about the Institute’s significant contribution towards research, training, capacity building, and dissemination of knowledge relating to constitutional governance, parliamentary institutions, legislative processes, and democratic values.
The orientation highlighted the various academic programmes offered by ICPS, including its Basic and Advanced Certificate Courses covering subjects such as Constitutional Law, Parliamentary Institutions and Procedures, Legislative Process, Parliamentary Practices, Electoral Systems, Panchayati Raj, Parliamentary Privileges, Ethics in Governance, Mediation, and Fundamental Duties. Students were also apprised of the Institute’s seminars, workshops, training programmes, legislative drafting initiatives, and outreach activities.
The session was conducted and coordinated by Mr. Kartik Sharma, 4th year U.G. student at HPNLU, Shimla, and Campus Ambassador, ICPS. The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, who actively engaged in discussions and sought information regarding the Institute’s programmes, research opportunities, and training initiatives. The programme served as an important platform for encouraging greater student engagement with constitutional and parliamentary studies and strengthening awareness about democratic institutions and governance mechanisms.
